About Us

We are a 501(c)(3) organization run by Chicago public high school graduates. Founded in April of 2020, we aim to engage members of our community thorough intergenerational learning with the arts. Art in all its forms has the power to connect us and lift our hearts and minds. In youth, art helps foster creative thinking, boosts self-esteem and establishes a sense of accomplishment. In adult populations, art can prevent cognitive decline by improving memory, reasoning and resilience. Regardless of age, participating in art activities helps calm our active minds and enhance our introspective adventures.

Executive Director: Maya Joshi

Hi, I'm Maya and I founded LHA as a high school freshman. Creating art with my grandparents has given me everlasting memories that I hold close to my heart. I think art is an incredible tool that can connect us across generations to form closer friendships and a deeper understanding of each other. I've begun to recognize the importance of intergenerational programming through my work with LHA and am excited to continue learning from fellow peers and seniors around me!

Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions regarding our high school program, Generation Mosaic, collaborations, grants or donations!
 Vice President: Ellis Van Houten

Hello! I’m Ellie and I started working as LHA’s communications director as a freshman in high school. The arts have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child and in high school I loved playing piano, singing in choirs, sewing, crocheting, and more and I am currently a student at NYU perusing my BFA in theater design and production. I’m also super passionate about helping others and I’m so excited to be able to put these two interests together and bring happiness, friendship and art to those who need it most.

Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions regarding Multigen Modules.

Secretary: June Stevens

Hi! My name is June, and I'm honored to serve as the Board Secretary for LHA. In my current role, I help facilitate communication between board members, interns, volunteers, and investors, making sure everyone stays connected and informed. I'm also your go-to person for any broader project-related or organization wide questions and can connect you with the right member for any specific inquiries. Previously, I've served as the Publicist and CoGen Creations Director, both roles that allowed me to help build and grow our original organizational model and contribute to our in person projects. Right now, I'm particularly excited to be focusing on our new MultiGen Modules initiative. I have been lucky enough to be involved with LHA since its founding and truly admire our mission and the impact we create.
Feel free to reach out anytime at [email protected] for any questions, inquiries or just to chat!

Payton Danosky
Hi, I’m Payton. I became involved in LHA in 2021 as a junior in high school when I founded the Washington chapter. In June 2024, I graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle, with a B.S. in Biology. During my undergraduate studies, I remained involved in LHA and explored a variety of research opportunities. I am passionate about the benefits of forming intergenerational friendships and look forward to continuing this work as I pursue graduate studies.

Please email me at [email protected] with any questions!
