Hi there! We're so excited to welcome our new volunteers, Beyza, Monica, Raynne and Shreeya to our team this week! We just received donations of fire tablets and kindles! We're so excited to donate them, and be sure to stay tuned to find out where the donations go! As always, we're continuing to meet with our senior friends and host group activities. Did you know that our volunteers host activities ranging from chair yoga to Google Earth tours? Happy Sunday! This past week was National Assisted Living week! This one-week celebration serves as an opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. This year's theme, Caring is Essential, highlighted the hard work and dedication of all the essential caregivers in assisted living facilities across the country. These staff members, including the activity directors, continue to play a critical role in caring for residents in senior living and should be honored for the incredible work they do every day. Shout out to all the activity directors we work with: Connie, Rose, Patrick, Carmen, Samantha, Carol, Kimberly, Becki, Anna, Brianna, Emma, Lajhonta, Shae, Ann, Lisa, Lone', Laura, Bree, Kirsten, Aubrey, Zakiyyah, Beth, Ryan, Kelsey, Mackenzie and Nelida for all their kindness and hard work!
Hey there! With all our volunteers now in the 2020-21 school year, our main volunteering hours are now before 9am CT and after 3:30pm CT on weekdays and any time on weekends. With some of our volunteers in different time zones or enrolled in different types of schooling, we are able to add in other meetings during the day to fit the needs of facilities we work with! It's LHA's 5 month mark!! That's incredible, it feels like just yesterday was our first week. From just 3 meetings with seniors per week, we have progressed to holding 105 regular meetings every week! We are so excited to welcome Emily, Sofia and Lucy to our team as well. Can you believe that we have over 60 volunteers working with us? We have grown rapidly and are continuing to work with new facilities and new volunteers and to donate to more seniors in need.
