Happy July! We are excited to share that we are kickstarting our Coll-AGE program with our very first Coll-AGE Fair at Princeton University this fall. The event is scheduled to take place on September 28th, 2024 and will be a part of the University's First-Year Families Weekend programming. We are collaborating with student organizations on campus, including Alzheimer's Buddies, Bedside DJ, the PACE Center's Student Volunteer Council and others, as well as the Princeton Peer Health Advisor Program and the MIT Age Lab. The event will be set up as an fair with tabling, where participants can visit each organization's booth to participate in an interactive, intergenerational activity. We hope to spread awareness about the importance of intergenerational connections, provide resources to students for intergenerational connections in their own communities, and share information about the university's intergenerational service and wellness programs. We will be sharing more exciting information about the event and programming over the next few months, so stay tuned for our newsletter and social media updates!

Hi there! Today was an exciting day because we launched our newest program for high school students- CoGen Creations, a partnership with Innovation80, an organization dedicated to serving different communities through the arts. Check out their work at https://www.innovation80.org/. 10 of our students met with 10 seniors at a social at our partner care facility and are excited to get the program officially started! Additionally, we're now working on finalizing the details for our college program and are excited to share that information soon!
Hi there! This is our first blog post in a few years, as the need for new updates decreased. With many of our original volunteers now in college, and the change in our world since we first started Lifting Hearts, we are working to adapt our program and services. We will still offer our traditional one-on-one and group activities for high school students, and will be introducing a new program for college students this fall! Stay tuned to find out more about our shift and new program!
Here's a special shout out to our AMAZING Washington Chapter! The leadership team and volunteers have worked hard over this past year. They've collectively put together many in person and virtual activities, including a Halloween party and a pizza party! Be sure to follow their Instagram (@liftingheartswiththearts.wa) and their TikTok (lhawashington)! Also, please check out their incredible website at https://liftingheartswiththeartswa.weebly.com/!
Happy August! As summer is slowly coming to an end, we'd like to share some updates! We were able to raise $2,168 and walk over 2,000,000 steps during our 2 week virtual Fun Run! Congratulations to all of the participants and thank you for your support. We just sent out Fun Run merch (tote bags, T-shirts and pullovers) to our participants who raised over $50, $150 and $500 and look out for photos on our social media! Donations raised from the fundraiser will go directly to care facilities in the form of art supplies and technology! We've also partnered with Ways 2 Wellness to donate activity booklets to care facilities as well. We will be making these donations during the last few weeks of August, so stay tuned!
Happy April! Today marks our 1 year mark as an organization!! In one year, we've grown from a community service idea to a 501(c)(3) that has hosted over 3000 meetings between seniors and youth in 6 chapters in 6 different states. We've raised and donated just over $7,000 worth of technology and art supplies to seniors and care facilities. We wouldn't have made it this far without the support of our incredible volunteers, activity directors, donors, friends and family. We appreciate each and every one of you! In the next year, we hope to continue our growth, host more activities and involve more volunteers. We're planning some exciting fundraisers, so stay posted!
Happy February! In the past few weeks, we've hit some pretty exciting milestones! We're now a Presidential Volunteering Service Award certifying organization and we just submitted our first few grant applications! We opened up a Michigan chapter, led by Larisa, Lily, Laurel and Briana, as well as a Washington chapter, led by Payton, Jacqueline and Asia. Last but certainly not least, we've been working with the Northern Illinois University Music and Memory Student Association and Dr. Mayer at NIU to learn more about dementia and to improve our connections with seniors who have dementia and other brain diseases. Unfortunately, our Facebook account is still down, so if you have recently reached out via the platform, we have not received your message. As always, don't forget to sign up for our monthly newsletter email list if you haven't done so already! Have a wonderful week and stay safe!
Hello! We're so excited to celebrate our 10 month mark! We're so close to our 1 year mark, In the past two weeks, we've been working on some exciting new projects and received our first grant! Look out for some announcements soon!
Hey there, we hope you're doing well, staying healthy and staying safe. So sorry we missed you last week, but on the bright side, this is our first post of 2021! We hope this new year brings you and your loved ones joy, love and lots of smiles. One positive note is that in the past two weeks, many of our senior friends have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine! We're counting down the days until we are able to meet all of our virtual friends for in-person visits! Also, moving forward, we will be posting our weekly blog posts every other week. See you after week 40!
Hi there! It's hard to believe that this is the last week of 2020 and the end of our 9th month of connecting seniors and youth!! Last week, we held our winter holiday concert. You can watch all of the recorded performances at the link: https://youtu.be/zUdqP6Ky6rw. 2020 has been a year filled with loss and sorrow, but also hope. In 2020, we've participated in quarantines and shutdowns, worn masks and face shields, learned vocabulary like contact tracing and social distancing. We've witnessed the heroism of healthcare workers, essential workers and teachers, the creativity of restaurants, performing arts groups and our communities, as well as the hard work of scientists around the world with their efforts to create vaccines and treatments against COVID-19. In the midst of this different year, we at LHA have been lucky enough to help facilitate the creation of hundreds of intergenerational friendships. We have cherished each of our 2,288 one-on-one meetings and each of our 89 group activities. We're so grateful for all of the love and support we have received and cannot wait to grow and expand as we progress into the new year. We wish you and your loved ones a very happy new year filled with an abundance of joy, love and happiness.
